PA Digital is excited to be involved with the DPLA’s numerous education efforts. The DPLA is involved in a number of different initiatives to bring partner content to classrooms in K-12 and higher education.
Exhibitions are designed to tell stories of national significance using source materials from libraries, archives, and museums across the United States, including letters, photographs, posters, oral histories, video clips, sheet music, and more. PA Digital images from the Free Library of Philadelphia and Villanova University are featured in Battle on the Ballot: Political Outsiders in US Presidential Elections. Primary Source Sets
Primary Source Sets are designed to help students develop critical thinking skills by exploring topics in history, literature, and culture through primary sources.
Drawing online materials from libraries, archives, and museums across the United States, the sets use letters, photographs, posters, oral histories, video clips, sheet music, and more. Each set includes a topic overview, ten to fifteen primary sources, links to related resources, and a teaching guide. View all of the DPLA’s Primary Source Sets.
National History Day
DPLA is a part of National History Day, a series of contests in which students present research projects related to a historical theme that they’ve developed using primary and secondary sources. Containing millions of primary and secondary sources, DPLA is the perfect complement to National History Day.
We look forward to contributing more to the DPLA’s education efforts.
