Summer 2018 Updates

PA Digital has achieved many milestones in 2018.

On March 2, we held an orientation webinar, hosted by our newest PA Digital Team Member, Stefanie Ramsay! You can view the recording here.

We have had two harvests so far this year. Our March harvest saw the inclusion of the American Philosophical Society, Matthews Public Library, New Castle Public Library, Pottsville Free Public Library, Presbyterian Historical Society, and Reading Public Library. This harvest included 30 new collections and 40,595 digital objects (records).

PA Digital was well-represented at the DPLA Member Network Meeting in Atlanta. Myself and Stefanie Ramsay presented on the new K-12 outreach initiative, developing primary source sets, “Primary Source Set Sorcery.” View our slides here!

We also held a birds-of-a-feather panel at the Spring MARAC conference in Hershey, PA, “True Rights Statements Confessions” which include myself as chair, Doreva Belfiore, Gabe Galson, and Brandy Karl as panelists. You can read more about our time at MARAC in our April blog post.

Our June 2018 harvest was record-breaking and saw the inclusion of a new intermediate provider Historic Pittsburgh and institutions Carnegie Museum of Art, Carnegie Museum of Natural History, Catholic Historical Research Center, Chatham University, Historical Society of Upper St. Clair, Library Company of Philadelphia, Media Historic Archives Commission, Oakmont Carnegie Library, Pitcairn Historical Society, Pittsburgh History & Landmarks Foundation, Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, Point Park University Archives, Rodef Shalom Congregation Archives, Science History Institute, and the University of Pittsburgh. This harvest also added 117 new collections and 49,976 digital objects (records).
